Jennifer Lopez’s Eye-Tricking Jeans Made Me Do a Double-Take

Yes, your eyes are deceiving you, but that’s not your fault. Bootcut jeans are the optical illusion that makes even short legs look miles long, so of course celebs go for them all the time. And while most stars have opted for classic blue bootcuts, Jennifer Lopez just wore a more ambivalent version.

I’ve seen Lopez in this leg-lengthening silhouette before, but I definitely had to look twice at her latest pair. Her high-waisted bootcut jeans were so worn that they looked like they had been put through a paper shredder before she pulled them onto her body. She paired the ripped style with sky-high pumps and a white blouse; and surprisingly, the combination worked. It was the perfect mix of casual-cool and chic. Levi’s 725 High-Rise Bootcut Jeans

If you want Lopez’s look for less, pick up the Levi’s 725 jeans on Amazon, where they’re on sale for just $31. The cotton-blend style is slightly stretchy and sits high on the waist, adding even more length to the legs. It’s available in 24 colors, but this light wash with two small rips on the left leg is the best to achieve the used look.

Hidden Jeans Ryan Ripped Bootcut Jeans

A pair of black jeans is essential for the fall and winter wardrobe. That’s why this pair from Hidden Jeans is at the top of my list. It has the perfect faded black that, along with the rips and raw hem, creates a great vintage look. Also, like the Levi’s mentioned above, it has a good amount of stretch, so the fit is very comfortable around the hips and thighs.

Mother the Bookie Sneak Jeans

Mother’s Denim is a favorite among celebrities: Jennifer Garner, Kate Middleton and even Jennifer Lopez have worn the brand’s jeans. The Bookie Sneak model has a mid-rise, is dark blue and has scuffs that extend from the knee to the thigh. And while most of the other styles on this list are quite figure-hugging, Mother’s are a little looser. If you don’t like skinny jeans, these are the jeans for you.
