Selena Gomez is beside herself with joy after her engagement to Benny Blanco. She can’t keep her ring-adorned hand to herself either. On Thursday, the actress showed off her new piece of jewelry on Instagram in a few snaps that she shared in her story.
In the first picture, a smiling Gomez posed for a mirror selfie, holding her phone with her left hand so that her diamond was the center of attention. Her brunette hair was styled into a funky bob and tucked behind one of her ears to reveal her diamond Chanel earrings. She also wore a black turtleneck sweater and a maroon leather jacket. She let the massive stone speak for itself and chose not to caption the photo.
Her second post consisted of a video in which the sparkler can be seen in all its glory. In the clip, Gomez filmed her hand as she sat poolside. “Sorry for the last post… I’ve been dreaming of this moment my whole life,” she lovingly wrote.
The 8-carat marquise-shaped stone, which cost an estimated $225,000, according to Ann Grimmett of Jared Jewellers, could also be a nod to her 2015 song “Good For You” with A$AP Rocky. In it, she sings that she’s a “marquise diamond” that “could make even Tiffany jealous.”
Earlier this month, Gomez and Blanco shared the exciting news of their engagement in an Instagram post that featured a photo of the ring, a selfie of Gomez holding her hand, and another adorable photo of Blanco wrapping his arms around the singer holding her hand and wearing the biggest smile on her face.
“Now eternity begins,” Gomez wrote in her post.
A source told People that Blanco’s proposal, which took place on a soundstage and included Taco Bell, was right up her alley. ‘It was right up her alley,’ the insider said, adding that ‘it was a total surprise for Selena’.
According to reports, the couple couldn’t contain their excitement and were desperate to share the news with their friends and family, which is why they held an “impromptu get-together” with their loved ones that very evening. “Benny and Selena were so excited that they immediately wanted to share the news with their loved ones,” the source continued. “It’s such a real partnership between them.”
