I love this easy recipe for stabilized strawberry whipped cream! It’s a wonderful addition to any Sunday morning breakfast (or anytime really!).
My kids love whipped cream on their pancakes, waffles, and on their fresh fruit. It’s a treat we enjoy from time to time. I also like to make this recipe sugar-free by using a sugar-free powdered sugar. This is a great alternative that I will link to below.
This recipe is my favorite for my kids’ birthday parties, and it’s always a big hit! Serving the strawberry whipped cream with fresh fruit or in strawberry cream cups is always a treat.
What I love about this recipe is that it’s a stabilized whipped cream, meaning that it will keep its shape and hold for much longer.
I served these strawberry cream cups for my daughter’s 2nd strawberry birthday party. They were so delicious and an absolute hit. The whipped cream held its shape in the cups and tasted divine!
To cater to different preferences, we made one batch with sugar-free powdered sugar and another with regular powdered sugar. Both versions were loved and were a complete success.
What makes a perfect strawberry whipped cream?
Whether it’s for a special occasion or a refreshing treat, making the best strawberry whipped cream is a must. This delicious and tasty dessert will leave you wanting more!
Tip: Make sure all of your ingredients are cold, such as your mixing bowl, cream cheese and heavy cream.
Stabilized Whipped Cream
This recipe is lighter than cream cheese frosting, but heavier than whipped cream alone. Stabilized whipped cream retains its texture, unlike whipped cream, which melts quickly after being applied to the treat.
Prepared correctly, this frosting is stable and applies beautifully to trimmings and retains its texture much longer. It is ideal for decorating strawberries and cream and other desserts.
Why is homemade whipped cream better?
Homemade whipped cream is so delicious because of its freshness and wonderful flavor. You have control over the ingredients, choose the best quality cream, adjust the sweetness and add vanilla and strawberry extracts for added decadence.
Ingredients you’ll need
Gather the best ingredients for a complete batch
- 1 cup whipping cream (please refrigerate)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (or sugar-free powdered sugar)
- 1 teaspoon strawberry extract
- 4 ounces cream cheese (make sure it is a block of full-fat cream cheese)
- Fresh strawberries, diced
Step-by-step instructions
Now that you have your ingredients ready, follow the step-by-step instructions. You should definitely follow along to make your whipped cream as good as possible!
- Cool the mixing bowl and beaters
Place the mixing bowl and whisk in the fridge for about 15 minutes. Chilling will help the cream to whip faster and keep its shape better.
You can do this while you prepare your area for making the whipped cream.
2. Whip the cream
Start with the cream cheese. First beat the cream cheese until fluffy.
Then slowly add the cream to the chilled mixing bowl and beat on a medium speed until soft peaks form. This should take about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to overbeat, otherwise the cream will turn to butter.
3. Add the powdered sugar and strawberry extract
Sprinkle the powdered sugar and strawberry extract over the whipped cream. Continue beating on a low speed until everything is well mixed. The sugar stabilizes the whipped cream, while the strawberry extract enhances the flavour.
*Sieving the powdered sugar ensures a smooth and lump-free whipped cream topping.
4. Add the color
If you would like to dye your strawberry whipped cream pink, you can now add a drop of pink gel food coloring. However, you can also prepare the cream without coloring.
5. Serve and enjoy!
Fill the strawberry whipped cream into serving bowls or use it as a topping for your favorite fruit. It goes perfectly with pancakes, cakes, tarts, waffles or even a simple bowl of fresh fruit.
Serving Materials
I served the strawberries and cream in these mini mason jars. What I love about these mini Mason jars is how practical and versatile they are. They are perfect for serving the strawberries and cream.
Plus, I was able to store the whipped cream I had leftover in the mini jars. The whipped cream kept well for several days. These jars are also ideal for serving and storing food. A real win-win situation for both sides!
